I can put 100 arguments in support of MS students graduating and trying to get into a new job. Similarly you can come up with 100 other arguments that they are all non ethical and lies.
It is more costly for companies big and small to hire a new grad, train and eventually have him work on the business and that process is carried only by a minute percentage of all the companies that do business and also they look at elite schools.
Every MS student has to undergo a vigorous financial crisis situation there by the time they graduate they are left with no choice other than accepting what ever comes there way, at the earliest.
They don't have the liberty financially as well as law wise to sit and try for 1 year to get into a full time job. Given those kind of situations it is nothing wrong in projecting themselves to certain years of experience.
At the same, contracting, consulting is all about this. When no party likes, they can always let go.

What is the need for all this ? The visa bulletin is out but no one cares to read it I guess. Every bulletin has these or words to this effect.
"Only applicants who have a priority date earlier than the cut-off date may be allotted a number."
So the date that you see in the table is NOT eligible for visa numbers.
Thanks for the information. I believe I have to wait for another month to get any updates from the Sep visa bulletin or wait till same time next year since my PD is Mar-06.

when was the last time you won a legal battel in 2 weeks/months/years time?
By the time this is ruled in our favor.. i am sure the CIR will be a reality...;-)
BTW... immigration policy is purely optional... US can do away with it..and you will have no say abt it.
I think instead of wasting time/money/effort on such an agenda...we must seek more realistic and practical short term solutions and BUT pursue our long term goal of CIR....
some of these short term policies can be:
a.) simultaneous filing of 140/485...
b.) 5 yr ead..without restrictions.
c.) add to the list..
IV is acting like a desi politician.. paisa do and shut up..we know what we are doing....they refuse to even entertain such alternate remedies.
like i had said in my earlier post.. If you pay a BYTCH.. she will sing what you want to hear..hence the fake promises of CIR being a reality..and all.. (remember that 588x bill fiasco) and NOW we know..from the horses mouth.. CIR is dead for the near foreseeable future.
So i think we should pursue alternate reliefs with immediate effect.

Both of the flights were on the same itinerary and were booked through Thai. United was asking for money for international part of the travel because he said that Thai would charge United for the extra weight if United checked in the luggage all the way to Bangkok, which isn't really true because Thai did allow 70 LB then. I am not sure what the regulation is now.
I think you are right that the guy was probably ignorant and didn't really care becasue I wasn't flying United after LA anyways.

Instead of criticizing the idea, please submit your votes!
Only 300 odd people sent flowers to the USCIS and we know it worked. This site has a lot of one time visitors so don't expect 25000 votes, but it does not mean this idea is crappy. Heck, I want to buy a house myself, but I cannot even think about borrowing 300k+ when I may be asked to leave the country on a day's notice (remember no time between jobs when you are on H1B).
I agree with the above !! an idea is like a spark ..once one media picks this up others will follow and you never know what it leads to. opposing an idea is Worse than doing nothing. BTW the way things are going ...GC may soon lose its grand appeal (it will still be in huge demand though ). the following article is a must read - if you have few minutes to spare --written by prominent economist. maybe a worst case scenario --but as scary as a horror movie

Most of the cases, USCIS approves the petition with I-94. Sometimes it approves without I-94 therby forcing you to travel out of country and come back.
So the unpaid bench is a really issue if you have to change your employer at the end of the bench time. If you continue with the same employer after your unpaid bench, then yes, you are out of status but it doesnt create problems.

If old employer revokes I140 then the result will be unpredictable. But it is upto INS to decide. Only those who had similar experience can tell clearly about this. Or a Lawyer can give better idea

I came in 1999 and filed GC atleast 5 times (every time sometthing went bad), spent atleast 30,000 dollars. Applied for immigration to Australia and got rejected so the anguish is natural.
I also came in 1999. Why did you apply for Australian Immigration ? Australia is notorious for changing goalpost every now and then. Also if your Engineering Bachelors degree is outside the washington & sydney accord (mainly western countries....implicit filter to allow western countries), then chances are very low.
Canada immigration made more sense for you compared to Australia.

In the current economic environment, removing country quota seems like the only argument that can fly, since it does not increase actual visas.
In the current economic envireonment where H1Bs are being blamed in media do you think anything can fly. There is so much anti-India sentiment in the softare industry due to consulting companies. Do you think they will want more Indians as greencard holders? Think about it?
I think the first step should be to do a media campaign and clear all negative publicity H1Bs are getting. Second, all of us working for consulting companies and feel they are exploited need to come out and file lawsuits against employers and clean the system. If there is no exploitation and it is only a misinformation campaign by anti-immigrants then we need to clear that wrong too so that foriegn workers get their due recognition for helping this economy grow.

In my opinion July 9th onward is the best time to send 485 packages to USCIS. But this is only my opinion and understanding and every one is free to do any thing with their own decisions or with help of their attorney.
Most of the time my many decisions didn’t proven to be good in past as for as my GC processing goes. So please take your own decision yourself and dont be stressed.

Personal use is if you would be playing monopoly with copies of your documents with your friends. But if you make a copy of US document for the intent to present to US official and not to misrepresent the original document, it is not "personal use" and it is not illegal. That's why lawyers are suggesting making and having copies.

Then why not Lord Ganesha can be on a bottle. I think it acts more like a stop sign, a sort of warning label to all the habitual drinkers:
" Drinking and driving is hazardous to your health. Please exercise judgement"
