This is the worst bill ever. 1987 amnesty bill atleast had a flawless game plan when it was passed. This one will not pass. If it passes, I am going back to India. At least in India polititions are not brainless, they are only corrupt. I choose to go back to India if this bill passes. Just Thought
There is 200k application without 140 approval, this is including july filers.
there is lot of chnace for those who got their I-140 approved, even their PD '2006.
you can see people getting approved PD'2005 EB2 cases, even then VB says now 2004'apr for EB2.They are not processing based on PD now and in future also i gues.Since we have already filed.PD will restrict only to File I-485 in future.
I think EB2-jan2007 and EB3-Aprl2005 in October VB

Financially, most economoists are predicting that east bay market is bound to fall further. (I would not discount the opinion of CNN Money easily).
That having been said, I agree that living in a house is definitely more about feeling than about finances.
How does someone know when is the right time to buy a home? Anytime is a good time to buy a home, as long as you can afford it. I thought the last few months were good time for buyers because of the inventory situation (more choices or otherwise you bid usually in CA) - I dont think anyone can predict the market situation in 5 years and no one makes money in 2 years in a good market condition as well. I bought it 2 months ago in East bay and I am planning to hold it for another five years atleast and both spouse and I work - it is certainly not an investment for us, rather a place that we live - it is a rare feeling one gets after living in exile (apartments)

No sir, I remember they provided them with lot of information, it's just that these 2 Senators want to kill H1B program, they had replied to him or not is immaterial.."non answer" meant they didn't answer his questions but rather gave some vague reply of how h-1 was good for usa.
If I was on the receivng end of that response; I would have thought that these guys are playing with me and by not answering the quesitons; then they are obviously trying to hide something. Therefore, I will attack them in another way to make them conform to the behaviour I want.

No. The way I understand it, the new employer is offering you a permanent job in the same/similar job classification. So you work for the new employer in a permanent capacity after you receive the green card.
I have a question....Green card is for future employment.In that case,once your I-485 got approved ,you need to go and work for your original employer who sponsered your green card. Is that right? Is that the same case if someone uses AC21?

1. This is what I don't understand. The original discussion was that getting an EVL is a bother. Now are you saying there should be another document people would need to apply for as proof of identity? Wouldn't that be an even greater bother?
2. Now, since the drivers license is used as proof of identity, it is necessary to ensure that criminal elements do not get it. Which includes illegal / out of status immigrants who could also be a security risk. Employment verification ensures that the person holding the H1 or H4 visa is in valid immigrant status. Which is why they ask you for the EVL even while stamping the visa. That is the security angle. Seriously...this is all fairly obvious stuff. The govt just wants to make it difficult for illegal / out of status aliens to get a drivers license. What is wrong with that? The funniest comment on this forum from somebody who was ruing that he couldn't bribe someone here for a license like he could do in India. Really? Do you want people driving on US roads who bribed their way to a license?

It took Mahatma Gandhi to get Independence for millions of Indians.
I am not assuming all individuals will have the same level of dignity and self respect. If you lack enough self respect, you will probably say US can ask us to wear a chain around our neck just because we are non-immigrants.

I wish they invested in R and D and innovation and products instead of services. Service industry is mainly governed by dealing with cost efficient labor. These companies reach out to IITs IIMs get the best and brightest and dump them into the service sector and start earning on them.
If they changed their business modal and started investing in products and Rand D, it may not give them quick money, but the results will be beneficial on the long run.

For example, stock brokers used to charge $200 and above for stock trades; however, electronic brokers came and made the industry efficient and hence can profit more by charging only $10 or even less. But this does not mean that the stock brokers are earning less. In fact they are earning more than before. However, their value additions come from faster settlement times and high volumes. This is easier to analyze. Now look at London or Hong Kong -- what services it provides and why is it booming?
High investments in R&D in general is good for economy but not necessarily true for a company. For example, German manufacturers are best R&D shops; however, their over investment in precision is precisely their problem. Back in the 1850s, Ireland went through the great potato famine which killed millions. A number of survivors migrated to the US where they met with hostility from local Americans who were scared these foreigners would take away their jobs. This has been going on since 150 years and is not a recent development.
In 1997, unemployment in the US was zero and so no American felt threatened by foreign presence. The sun was shining, the birds were chirping and everything was hunky-dory for new immigrants. However, the situation is considerbly different today with increased outsourcing and brown desis seen everywhere in the US - especially in walmarts.
With all this, it is inevitable that an immigration reform that will put an end to all our woes is not going to happen. However, we can try our best and hopefully expect at least some reprieve in the forthcoming revamp. If not, then we have Bangalore, Hyderabad and Noida where we do not have to spend an average of 2 hours everyday brooding over immigration issues.

Why did you choose your screen name as 'Hopefull'? Are you hopeful about yourself? Or are you hopeful about others? Or may for everyone? Either way your message and tone of your post doesn't sound hopeful for anybody. Could you please consider changing your screen name to "HOPELESS"? This would help eliminate the hypocrisy due to your screen name. What do you say?

Its 2007 meaning five years and if the Dept is not willing to budge after all these efforts to a number more than 7000, and you still are HOPEFULL ignoring the facts means that you are an idiot.
