Emailed the same also to my local Congresswomen.
Posted the letter to whitehouse address with the following contents:
"I am writing to inform you of how the country based quotas imposed on Employment Based green cards are unfair and illogical. I came to the US with the belief that this country is a meritocracy where you are judged based on your abilities and qualities. These country based quotas judge people based on their place of birth. This causes people from India and China to wait over a decade to get a green card whereas someone from another country with similar or lesser abilities can obtain permanent residence in a fraction of that time. Lack of permanent residency has made me hesitant to buy a house or to do any long term investments in US and I want to get out of this limbo at the earliest.
My requests to you are:
1. Eliminate country level quota on Green Cards (to reduce the backlog of permanent resident applicants)
2. Recapture unused permanent visa numbers from the past (to allow USCIS to issue permanent visas to eligible applicants whose applications have been processed and pre-adjudicated)
3. Issue 5-year EAD cards (to reduce workload on USCIS of administrative renewals)
4. Issue 5-year Advanced Parole document (to allow people like me stuck in the backlog to travel back and forth from USA without having to renew AP every year)
I believe in President's slogan "Yes, we can!"."

We can get a employment verification letter. But now a days you need employment verification letter for many things. Just recently, jan 2009, I carried EVL for visa stamping. Now, my DL is expiring, should I ask them again for EVL. It has become more like HR nightmare for having a non-immigrants in the copany. These taylor made rules are not appropriate. When driving is a basic necassity, I could not comprahend why they need all additional documents. Any ways if this is true I have to ask my HR again to provide me one. Hope they do not get mad at me.

I know you didn't advise me/anyone - I too expressed my view.
I still do NOT understand how a USCIS error can prevent me from re-applying !! There was a Post yesterday at IV by a gentleman from IOWA who called Up USCIS and they confirmed that it will be accepted. I PM'ed him because i was not sure if IOWA allows you to Voice-record "evidence" - He told me that USCIS recorded the call as a general Practice.
I doubt they will release their own recording to be used against them and also they says we "may" record for "Training and Quality" purpose.The best Option would be if we take Permission from the CSR and record that conversation at our end - I can't do that because the STATE i live dont allow that.
I am not advising anyone anything, I just shared what I did. This time , I did not go through a lawyer.
Something similar happened in Oct'05 and the priority dates remain retrogressed for next almost two year. It was just by stroke of fate it became current now , otherwise the situtation would have persisted.
If my memory serve me right, there were some cases back in Oct'05 whose application were rejected in error but were not allow to refile as PD had retrogressed.
Do what you want to do, I am just sharing what I did and I may be wrong. Personally after having missed one window of opportunity in Oct'05 , I have no capability to take any more risk.

Here is my daughter's case:
1994 she was 8 years old when we brought her to USA

What's is Frist's motive in trying to trip the McCain - Kennedy or Specter's Markup? What's his point?
Looks like in Congress, each senior senator is a leader of his own and don't tolerate or cannot see eye to eye on more serious work of fellow senators or congressman. The idea is to trip the whole effort to treat illegal immigrants as humans. In Frist and its ilk's opinion, they want the services of illegal (and legal) immigrants, but this great country doesn't want to give any benefits to the illegal aliens in return. It's is so farcical, only the feudal minded Frists' can do it. Many in this country want 'closure' for this and 'closure' for that, but they deny all relief to these illegal aliens. Our goal of relief from retrogression and to increase visa numbers is unfortunately tied to such 'comprehensive bills'.
I want users of this forum to think about it, ruminate on it and write letters to law makers, newspapers etc.

The specific details is what we are all waiting for. CIR seems to be the only way to expect some change for EB. We need to work for this change to be a good one for us.

Ok, I've seen a lot of threads about go to the rally, actions items, I've reading a lot of guys saying dont ask for your receipt status, dont waste your time etc, etc.
Yes we did the rally we were great with all those signs, and appearing in the Indy TV but...
Question remains open:
1. When are they going to increase the GC quota?
2. When congress id going to do something?
I've the feeling that that's it we made our point but we are still with no GC, waiting receipts..............

Urgency of getting a receipt is that once you get the receipt, it means that USCIS has 'accepted' your application and it will not be rejected for lack of initial evidence.
You can track it by checking your bank account too. You checks will be cashed first before you get the receipt.
