The above post is senseless !! who cares who votes for whom and who does what ?? what democrats do and what republicans do is not in our hands - nor do we decide who comes in power. our aim should be to try and come up with a plan and act on it. whether it succeeds or not is not in our hands ...doing something is better than nothing. so if u have a better plan come up with it and we will support and act on it.

Although we do not control who comes into power, if we wish to have our issues addressed, we have the responsibility to understand why/how someone or some party won the elections. Please stop behaving like and IT project manager where someone will come up with a silver bullet solution/plan and then implementation of that one silver bullet will fix everything. Getting bills passed in congress is not an IT project. I think the plan has been laid by the core team. I understand that core team has repeatedly told us to get more actively involved, raise money to help with advocacy and create awareness of the issue. We just want to come up with an way way out, a silver bullet solution, well defined project plan, and at the end of time and money, we must see the desired result. To all those who are screaming and shouting about "IV collecting Donations and doing nothing", I am not a donor myself, but we have to understand that IV IS THE ONLY platform we (EB community) have. However shaky or small the platform is. It takes a different kind of person to doggedly keep at something as insipid and difficult and immigration relief for EB and to put up with all the brickbats that armchair immigration proponents and to be beneficiaries like us throw at the IV core.

now a days predictions have become more like weather forecasting saying that past few years we had rains around this time hence forth it may rain. :p
2010, all those who filed 485 by 2006 will be cleared up and will be given GC, 2010 end there will be another wave of 485 filers who will continue as cash cows for next 5 years for EAD and AP, 2007 july filers will be cleared up by 2012. Do not ask the source of information it is more of stock market and weather forecast were in stocks falls and gains every 5th year and 6th of June is the first day of monsoon in mumbai....:D

Thanks, its working now. But seems really slow
Most of you either have a firewall or a proxy server to go out to the internet at your work locations, which allows for only TCP port 80. So if you are unsuccessful in getting the real player to work, try this:
when real player opens do the following:
click on tools->preferences->network transport->
then check the "manually configure connection settings"
click on RTSP settings and uncheck everything except "Attempt to use HTTP for all contents" click OK.
Next
click on PNA settings and uncheck everything except "Attempt to use HTTP for all contents" click OK.
Enjoy!!

I called USCIS Nebraska SC and I spoke with the customer service guy for atleast 15 minutes. First he did a name check and didn't find it, as expected.
Secondly, he said that if we would have returned any application, we would have entered that information against your name, so he doesn't even sees that information.
Thirdly, he said we are accepting and processing all the applications they will be receiving going forward after July 17th.
Fourth, they still have thousands of applications sitting with them which they received on July 2nd and before August 17th, but there has been no proper communication to them as to what needs to be done with those.
Fifth, his guess and according to his knowledge he said that we will go ahead and start entering the information for those application also and process them which they received between July 2nd and July 17th, but when would that happen they don't know, but that's what surely would happen, so if they have your application then it will be entered and processed.
Sixth, He said if I were you, I would call back after a week or so and check again.

I agree with jcmenon. We want to push for filing of Adjustment of Status or I-485 application to get EAD, Advance parole, etc. We are not asking to be given that status. The law says the status will only be given if the numbers are available. I think that is exactly what we are trying for in SKIL BILL as well. I think it is worth pursuing this option directly with USCIS.

There are ofcourse lot of ways to stay afloat on your GC process. But its all risky. Even expreienced Lawyers will say its possible and might go ahead as well. But something happens latter then the lawyer is not at loss. Its you who will bear the brunt.
If you are saying that I am following the book to get my GC so be it. On my recent trip to Cleavland, Ohio I was in cab driven by a Indian and he was telling me that he made sure he always had a "American" girlfriend as in case of "troubled waters" he can play the safe and easy card by marrying the girlfriend. Smart, only if you are single :D
So the gist of my message is there are many ways to keep afloat but its better to choose the correct one and risk free one unless you are already on the loosing side and this is the best you can do and the last leaf of your luck.
Always follow the right route. But if you are in troubled waters, try provisions and workarounds make make sure u do it legally :) Play by the rules. In cases where company is laying off, bad managers, selfish employers, mergers etc... bad work, I think one must see if he has provisions and workarounds. You never marry a company for thee sake of Green Card, if you do so, then get ready for an unconditional divorce. Remember, company are commercial entities, and they dont care a shit about u or ur family or green card, they care about themselves, I have seen so many people being artificially loyal to their companies so that they would not face layoffs or issues. As such nothing is straight forward. No system is 100% perfect and though the American system may not be 100% perfect system, this is the only system that can be the best in the world. I am current now (PD: Feb 16th,06) and last time when i was current in 2008 for a month i got an RFE. Even though the attorney replied to the RFE in 3 days, all my case status shows is RFE response received.
Ours is a big company and close 2000 people applied for 485 during the July 2007 fiasco and we were asked to send the G28 forms to the attorney by mail with no signature reqd. Apparently almost every got an RFE for that.
I wish i could get to know if RFE was all taken care of and my case is pending for a VISA number. Any way to know if thats the case gurus?
