When was the last time DOS moved the dates based on calculations and pending applications ??
I know this gives a lot of 2003/2004 EB2 India folks a ray of hope. Hang on to it :)
Of course since there is nothing better to do, we can crunch the numbers and make predictions about when the dates move to what etc. :):) Nothing wrong with it. Gives us some fodder to munch on.
The folks in the line for a while know, how better these predictions have been in the past.

By the way, nobody is claiming that we all will buy the house, we just are saying that we have the potential. And we want a platform to realize this potential. This is the fact no one can deny.

1. In the first 3 quarters they are supposed to use 81%(3*27%) of 140,000 = 113400. They used up 140,000(which is not according to their regulation A).
2. Regarding clause B, in June they could have used 14000(from June) + 47400(Remaining quota from previous months i.e 113400- 66000) = 61400. They used 74000 in June(which is not according to their regulation B).

The reason there were so many placards was - we were expecting atleast 10000 people to show up and with the kind of poor response we got, we were expecting atleast 5000 and thats why there was 700 banners ordered.
If we had the magic figure 10000, the impact could have been marvellous. The banner count would have been appropriate
With 1500 to 2000 - every individual had a banner or a placard or a flag.
Mark's speech was hillarious - but had very strong messages - THESE ARE THINGS THAT NEED SPECIAL SKILLS - AND MARK PULLED IT THROUGH EXTREMELY WELL. Mark is a pround member of the Tri State Chapter and his contributions towards the cause are amazing

I do believe you had the best intention in posting this so that people who are traveling can be aware of a potential hassle and be prepared to answer questions.
Now we can eliminate all the guessing and skepticism by just calling your friend and asking for the details of the person who was sent back. If you don't have the time send me a PM with your and your friends email ID and I will followup with him to find out what really happened. There is no point in arguing with each other just to see this bill in a manner to exclude each one of us. EAD is work authorization even when it is not a visa. The intent of the bill will matter. The clear intent is to not allow hiring of non-citizens by companies engaged in mass layoff, which could include EADs. What's the point of arguing if someone gets an RFE for employment letter? It's not relevant.
What should/can we all do to prevent this from passing? What does IV core want us to do?

Equally- That is tough to define. Equally as a percentage of their income/earnings? Rich don't even have 'income' to pay the income tax. They probably are paying 5 or10% of their earnings, while you and me pay 30+% of our income.

For people who want to file I-485 filing on their own. Since 485 filing requires only one document from the employer (Employer's letter saying you have the job and its the same job description), its possible to file 485 by oneself without additional help from lawyer or employer. This is a thread for that purpose. Even those who have the help and attention of a good lawyer can use this thread for guidance. This is the initial list of documents that are required for 485 filing and the optional EAD and AP filing. The fee structure is scheduled to change after July 30th. The fees listed below are applicable now thru July 29th.
I-485 DOCUMENT CHECKLIST
1. Payment Checks (USCIS Filing Fees $325.00 in favor of 'United States Citizenship and Immigration Service' OR 'USCIS').
Original fee plus $70.00 biometrics services fee if you are 14 years of age or older. If you are under 14 years of age, the fee is $225.00 with no biometric services fee. If you are 79 years of age or older, the fee is $325.00 with no biometrics services fee.

I was thinking this forum was for such purpose. May be I am wrong. Because I have been on this forum for a month now and everytime I had to convince some or other moderator to take up the cause. Not that encouraging...
