The oft-delayed White House immigration meeting is back on the schedule for tomorrow, and is expected to include congressional advocates of immigration reform from both parties.
Peter Wallsten wraps up Hispanic Democrats' frustration, but on balance, any mention of immigration continues to be, for now, a winning issue for Democrats, throwing salt into an open GOP wound.
Harry Reid says he has the votes for comprehensive reform, meanwhile, though the White House has downplayed the chances of getting it done � as Obama has pledged earlier � this year. An open question is whether Republicans have any ability to capitalize on that unfulfilled promise.

I think Meera Shankar needs to be fired. Its bloody 2010 and this is the kind of customer service the indian consulates provide - they dont pick up calls - it takes them a month to issue new passports - Always feel ashamed to be an indian any time I have to deal with these useless consulates.
The Houston consulate does not even have their address properly listed on their website.

It's 180-days validity. Good for those with H1 or L1 but not for others, who doesn't wish to apply I-140 without their PD being current.

You would need employee letter as well. The employee letter will state that the position is still open and they are willing the pay the amount that was initially agreed to while filing for labor.....so pay stub is not enough.....

Highly recommended especially, if your company pays for it (mine did not)!
I know lot of us have tough schedule but this bill will get rid of large pool-
I would think 30-35% - Why? Lets see EB1's are definitely out- Plus most EB2's (except Bachelors + 5 yrs exp guys) will be out.
Don't give me any Red dots over this- Just a humble opinion. So, lets says it gets rid of 30% in queue, it's as good as Increasing visas to 182K!

My spouse's employer had applied for H1 this year and he got a receipt number. But the check has not been encashed. Now when I checked the status in website it says the following:

Application Type: I129, PETITION FOR A NONIMMIGRANT WORKER
Current Status: Case Rejected because of Incorrect Fee
On April 30, 2008, we determined that this I129 PETITION FOR A NONIMMIGRANT WORKER was not properly filed because you submitted incorrect fee. Therefore, we have rejected your case and returned it to you with all supporting materials, along with the fee. Please follow the instructions on the notice to submit the case with correct fee.

Employer is yet to get the documents back. He checked his records and says there is no mistake from their side including fee...
The question here is:
1. what does case rejection means? - Is it end of it or can it be reapplied with correct fee/ other supporting docs, it at all thats the case
2. If there is no mistake from employer side in filing,and if it is a kind of adminstrative mistake from USCIS side, can it be resubmitted?
I am confused...

I think you might be getting stressed out for no reason vis-a-vis the job market. Most of the people applying (~500k by your estimates) are already on H-1B or L-1. The number of spouses getting EAD is another question.
Just imagine what will happen to the market flooded with EADs. Job market for H1Bs will totally be down. No US companies will hire H1Bs if they get somebody with an EAD. Tonnes of Junior developers and S/W testers will in the market driving the billing rates down even further. It's better to pack up and leave. I have heard from one of the forums here that an estimated 500K people will file this month since all PDs are current. EB-3 mexico + phillipines togther alone will be close to 300K. God help the Job market.
Also minimum wait time will be 500K/140K ~ 4 yrs before they get to process your GC. Add to that the time for namecheck backlog 2+ yrs. So total 6+ yrs before getting GC........
