Whats the advice on this from core group?
can we start mass web faxing USCIS for rule change?
Now we are talking....first we need green signal from Core Team and request them to make fax for USCIS. Once we have fax, then we will fax this latter to USCIS same day. I hope once 6000 member fax this letter to USCIS same day then we will see some action from them too and we will be in media.
I will also say that Core Team should sell this fax to its member for $10. If everymember pay $10 for this letter and if we are 6000 then it will be $ 60,000 for IV which will be very nice funds for IV.
All we want from USCIS that allow us to file I-485 or allow us to file EAD or AP so we can have some freedom of travel and job change and it will also help USCIS to start name check ahead of time and that will also cut their processing time to process I-485.
what do you guys think ??

carrying your gc is understandable, its just a card like your license.
But expecting folks to carry their immigration papers all the time, even when they haven't travelled abroad is a bit too much. As long as i have my license or state id with me, it should suffice.
This is just a classic case of harassing immigrants.

It is just not desi compaanies, but small companies in general want to save every peenny and would like to extract more work and would not mind about ur status or legality but will just get their work done.
When you join desi company you have to deal with crap. Must be very careful while inbetween projects and make sure u don't accrue any bench time.

You are absolutely right about rippling effect. I personally know someone, yet to graduate, yet to get OPT also, but got trained in ETL/Datawarehousing before graduation, got a job thr' desi shop as a H1 consultant with 6 years experience. I was really shocked to see the level to which people can lie. I am sure their lies won't stand in critical work situations when REAL exp. is warrented. But the damage is already done.

Stage 1: Labor Certification (or the PERM process) => Government scrutinize that qualified citizens are not available to perfom the "highly skilled" job.
Stage 2: I-140 stage=> Government scrutnize that the person for which immigrant visa is sought is elligible and the company has ability to pay his salary
Stage 3 : I-485 or Adjustment of status : Now the immigrant waits for the visa number to be available and adjust his status to that of a permanent resident.
Most of us are in stage 3.
We are stuck in stage 3 waiting because of very small immigration quota's that were set decades ago which are completely out of line with real supply-demand for the size of todays high-tech workforce. In addition USCIS inefficiency has resulted in them not utilizing even this tiny quota fully, in the past few years.
Getting a mortgage is a lot easier if our immigration status is permanent. In this final stage of immigration most of us have work authorization that needs to be renewed every year, and mortgage/Finance companies dont accept that.

No one has answered my question yet - If we are so "highly skilled", why no one is listening to us in this country.
They'll definitely listen , but It takes some time , may be 5,6 years

I have to post here to get attention though I know this is not the thread ..I don't know why people are not talking about this ..there is a possibility that there may be a lame duck session for second stimulus bill ..maybe we can push for small recapture bill ..please comment and let us get IV core's attention..I can access IV only during evenings and morning ...so someone please think about this and push for this

Out of status is usually checked until date of I-485 filing. One exception being working without valid and active EAD when I-485 is pending.
H1 status, one should be paid what is mention in H1 LCA and it is not related to LC Salary for green card. LC Salary comes into picture for ability-to-pay issues.

In my case the RFE was issued 1.5 years after filing for AOS (I filed in July 07 and this RFE was on Oct 08). Also, I'm not the only person who got this. I know many folks who work for big companies like Intel etc, who got such an RFE.
Also if I remember correctly, Belle on Murthy Forums (who also seems in the know) mentioned that one must be employed at all times on EAD. I didn't find any specific timeframe -- most people said you could get into trouble if an RFE (such as mine) is raised and you're out of a job. On the other hand, it is might be safe till such an RFE is issued (???)

And you are a perfect desi... who wants to get everything without giving anything and to add on to that provoke others and distract them.
Nothing is free, and nothing will happen over night. It takes time and political to get these things done.
Think for a second ..
how many members are there on IV = More than 30000
How many donate = less than 200 give or take
How many yell and suggest and expect that core will leave everything and start working on the suggestion = Everyone
Now if you are in this situation , where you are not even responsible to do anything for anyone(like desi politician)... would you even do what IV is doing? No, forget that you won't even think of creating IV.
So you know my next sentence.. keep it low and be out .. or sober up and get in line and be the one to do the right thing so that you can look into your eyes in the mirror next time.
IV is acting like a desi politician.. paisa do and shut up..we know what we are doing....they refuse to even entertain such alternate remedies.
like i had said in my earlier post.. If you pay a BYTCH.. she will sing what you want to hear..hence the fake promises of CIR being a reality..and all.. (remember that 588x bill fiasco) and NOW we know..from the horses mouth.. CIR is dead for the near foreseeable future.
So i think we should pursue alternate reliefs with immediate effect.

I'm one of those who say with pride that I can create jobs and buy houses. Then why will not congress or policy makers not touch this. As some here said it depends upon what we think about ourselves. I know many people who like to work under someone even after 10-15 years, my brother is like that, and I know many more like me who want to start companies, employ many people, and do bigger things. Both may be right in their own ways, but if you project yourself like me, then the doors will open.. Show enterprise..
I appreciate and agree with your sentiment. But unfortunately politics is too dirty and they dont care about any of those things, all they care about is votes and populist agendas. The flavour of the day populist agenda is blaming immigrants for all the current economic mess and thats why politicians will be working against legal immigration rather than for it.
But I admire your spirit and agree that we need to show the people how much potential we have for the betterment of this country, if only they let us do it.

Did anybody notice that FB I-485 processed numbers are same for every month. How USCIS can allocate same numbers to FB every month and not to EB. Wouldn't it be easy if they allocate annual quota of EB visas per month and any leftover from every month can be allocated to retrogressed countries in the same month.
